Lockdown restorations and acquisitions!

 This year has been challenging starting out with bushfires, the long term drought (which has broken in some parts) and the dreaded Pandemic we are now in amongst.

We feel for all those affected by this directly and indirectly(lockdowns, border closures etc). Hopefully some of our readers have managed to get some work done on their projects or even maybe acquired a new one. If you would like to share what you have been up to we would love to hear from you and post some photos on here to provide some inspiration to others, or even if you have photos of your machines for a "Virtual Rally". Hopefully we will all get through this soon and be able to attend real events soon.

As a taste a reader from the worst of the lockdowns in Melbourne has commenced work on a Model B restoration, here a few words from Paul;

With the current lockdown due to the virus situation in Melbourne, I decided to pull my B out of its spot in the shed and give it some much long overdue love; and it needs lots.

 I have had the machine for the past 20+ years and it was passed to me from my father that had it for probably a similar amount of time, anyway I have started the teardown of the Sheetmetal parts and the steering assembly of which the steering box was largely ceased due to the foreign matter that had found it way into the box over the years.

The resto is progressing slowly but positively, I have removed the front end to clean and will repaint those parts prior to fitting new tyres and tubes, one of the front tyres was completely gone and no longer on the machine, the other was only slightly better so moving the little unit was only with the compliments of the forklift which was not ideal.

Wanted!

 We have had a few enquiries of late from people getting into projects during isolation and others looking for projects. If you can help please get in touch by emailling aussieallischalmers@outlook.com

Firstly we have a restorer in Victoria trying to source a top bushing from the steering shaft. Having seen nylon replacements does anyone know of a replacement as per original?

Secondly we have a reader chasing a Model M or Model K Crawler preferably complete but will consider anything.

An Allis-Chalmers Tractor Collection with a Nostalgic Touch | Farm Collector

Also on the Wanted list is an early Allis, 20-35 or 25-40 Model E (this could be a tough challenge) in any condition from a wreck to a restored tractor here in Australia.
The same collector is also looking for an unstyled WC.
