We have had correspondence from a reader who has just taken ownership of this Model B, here are a few words from Geoff;
Make: Allis Chalmers (best tractor ever)
Model: B
Year: 1952
Tractor No.: EB8930
Engine No.: ECE7504K
History:
As best as can be estimated, she was imported as a Country Roads Victoria or
Council vehicle, probably mowing road verges/parks or whatever.
She’s been living at Mearns Beach towing a boat to the ramp and back, nothing to suggest she hasn’t been in that area from new, but who knows.
Under the “gold” paint, it can clearly be seen she was painted Traffic Yellow or some such … couple this with the Pan Seat, Adjustable Front Wheels and Implement Lever it starts to add up. I also have the forward facing brackets that would have replaced the 2 Point Linkage arms but they’re not fitted.
I’ve yet to remove some of the top coat to see if the old CRV number is still present but fully intend for her to be painted yellow again to reflect the past life.
She’ll now reside between Endeavour Hills and the National Steam Society grounds at Lake Goldsmith, VIC
